Thank you to everyone who attended the information meeting!
The next time we meet is Thursday, September 26th, in Fuse Box. Whether you attended the information meeting or not, you are welcome. We will go over more information about the design team and the plans moving forward.
A new academic year means we are looking for rocket enthusiasts who want to help take Chalmers to space.
On Thursday, September 19th at 17:30, you are welcome to join us at SB3-L111 to get information that could be useful if you want to start building rockets with CAESAR.
During the evening, there will be “fika”.
Are you interested but unable to attend? Don’t hesitate to contact us via email or through the contact form here.
Chalmers Rocketry Group is changing name to CAESAR, which stands for Chalmers Aerospace Society for Advanced Rocketry. It is a new start for the society, with lots of changes based on what the society has experienced during its first 10 months. Many valuable lessons have culminated in a new approach – and a new name.
Last Thursday the members had a go at buildning rockets from Klima B4-4 motors. It was a hectic night, and building rocket from cardboard, plastics and glue requires some creative thinking. Eventually we got three rockets from the members and one rocket (of disputable quality) from the board.
First up is “The five rocketeers”:
A lot of discussion for “The five rocketeers”
We had team “Apollo 313”:
Creative design requires great focus
And lastly “KNASA”:
Sometimes the board comes and disturbes the building
Of course, some handsome guys from the board were present
Someone needs to organize
After almost three hours of hard work, all the teams had a rocket ready. Even the board.
From left to right: “The five rocketeers”, “KNASA”, “Apollo 313” and the board’s… creative design
All the teams made predictions of how high their rocket will fly. How high they actually fly is still uncertain, as the launch was postponed.
As of now, team “Apollo 313” appears to reach the furthest. We will have to wait to see how high the rockets actually go
Chalmers Rocketry Group has now been started, and we in the board are working intensely so that we can start providing events and get a preliminary design for our first project under way. The board is currently planning to
Arrange a first meeting with everyone who wants to be a member and who thinks that a rocket would be a fun project. Fika will be available and the board will present different proposals, which will be further developed during the meeting. A brief description of how the project will be executed will also be presented.
Arrange a kick-off evening where we build small model rockets with store-bought motors, where the evening hopefully ends with launches of the rockets.
Take part in Chalmers Cortègen. More information for the participants will be provided later.
The board is also working on reaching out to the students at Chalmers and showing that we exist. Furthermore, we are talking to professors at the university who might want to hold lectures for our members in space and rocket related areas, as well as talking to companies and organizations who we could possibly co-operate with.
